Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has announced a major change for private aviation. Starting May 1, 2025, foreign private jet operators will be allowed to fly domestic routes within the Kingdom. This ends long-standing restrictions and creates new opportunities for business and luxury travel.
For years, foreign private jets were not allowed to operate within Saudi Arabia. This made it difficult for business travelers and private jet users to move between cities. Now, with this new policy, foreign charter operators can apply for permission to fly domestic routes, making travel more convenient and efficient.
This change is part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims to strengthen the aviation sector and attract global investment. By opening up the skies, the country is making it easier for businesses, investors, and high-net-worth individuals to travel within the Kingdom. The decision will also encourage international charter companies to expand their services in Saudi Arabia, leading to better competition and improved aviation infrastructure.
GACA has also set up a General Aviation Sector Development Committee to work with operators and investors. This committee will focus on improving regulations and building new private airports and terminals to support the growing demand for business aviation. As part of its long-term plan, Saudi Arabia aims to turn its private aviation sector into a $2 billion industry by 2030, creating 35,000 new jobs in the process.
